About Us

WELCOME to the official blog for the Chief Sealth International Cross Country team! We are a group of students who are motivated to run out in the rain or sun and strive to be committed to ourselves and our teammates. Cross country is a fall sport, during which time we have practices after school and compete in 5k (or 3.1 mile) races leading into Metro, District, and State Championships. In the spring, most of us run track as well. You do not have to be the best or the fastest to run cross country. Anyone can join no matter what your experience level. We are an inclusive team and are committed to you if you are committed to us. Through dedication and perseverance, we are able to run hard as a team and as individuals. Our team members learn how to balance academics with sports and we have one of the highest GPA averages of all Sealth's sports teams. Of course, we wouldn't have such an amazing cross-country team without our two coaches: Jason Glover and Greg Adams.

Coach Glover is a 9th grade science and IB biology teacher at our school. He is a great motivator and is constantly looking out for our team members while making us laugh. If you would like to ask him about cross country, he is located in room 121 off the galleria in the Chief Sealth building.

Coach Greg is a committed volunteer who specializes in the long distance portion of the running. He is always encouraging us to do our best and is a super marathon runner. You may hear some stories about his impressive 26.2 mile races at a pace faster than most of our boys' team can hold for one mile!

Though we have just said goodbye to our three graduating senior captains- Lisel Perrine, Bryson Good and Jesse Simpson- the coaches are looking to some new faces to lead the team. Returning captain Kenaia Neumann will be joined by Levi Nichols and Brandon Keller, who will both be juniors this fall. Both coaches and captains are incredibly excited about the upcoming season and are perfectly happy to answer any questions you might have about the season. Come and say hi!

Kenaia Neumann was born to a family of runners, so it was natural for her to join cross country her freshman year at Sealth. She started out unable to run more than 2 miles at a time, but has now qualified for and competed at the State Championships twice and run four half marathons. She loves cross country more than almost anything and is TREMENDOUSLY excited for the upcoming season.

Levi Nichols isn't actually a student at Sealth, but you could never tell due to his enthusiasm for the team and commitment to the sport. Even when he can't run, you'll find him on the track at 3:15 ready to at least do a few stretches. He's super easy to talk to and also very knowledgeable about injury prevention, if you've ever got a question about that. This year he's looking to stay uninjured and PR while helping the boys' team to Districts again.

Brandon Keller is super energetic when it comes to cross country- he's one of the voices you'll hear cheering at almost every meet. Though you might first notice his sense of humor, he's also incredibly determined. Brandon has been working hard to improve since he joined freshman year- not only has he already knocked over a minute off his time, but this summer he also plans on running some of the most mileage out of anyone on the team to reach his goals.
